National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic Meets with Armenian Ambassador

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Armenian Ambassador to Serbia Ashot Hovakimyan.

The officials agreed that they expect an intensification of political dialogue on all levels and realisation of visits.

The Parliament Speaker stressed that the lack of visits was the result mainly of organisational issues and logistics, as well as the electoral process in Serbia, adding that Serbia greatly appreciates the principled and consistent stance of non-recognition of the independence of Kosovo-Metohija and that we are very grateful for the support of Serbia’s efforts to maintain its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Brnabic also said that we attach great importance to the development of the traditionally good relations with Armenia and that this year is especially important for both countries as it marks 30 years of diplomatic relations between them. She believes that with joint efforts we will continue to develop our friendly relations, contributing to the strengthening and deepening of cooperation in all areas of mutual importance. She welcomed the opening of the Belgrade office of the Armenian Embassy in Prague at the beginning of July of this year, and the meeting was also attended by the head of the office Hayk Khemchyan.

Ambassador Hovakimyan stressed that Armenia has very well-developed parliamentary relations and that it is very important to continue to nurture these relations with Serbia as well.
