National Assembly Representatives Meet with School of National Defence “Vojvoda Radomir Putnik” Attendees

The attendees of the School of National Defence "Vojvoda Radomir Putnik" met today at the House of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia with the Chairman of the Security Services Control Committee MA Igor Becic, and the Chairman of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee Milovan Drecun.

At the beginning of the meeting, the participants were greeted by the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, who welcomed them and expressed her satisfaction with their visit to the highest legislative body.

The committee chairmen informed the attendees about the organisation and scope of work of their respective committees, highlighting the importance that parliamentary committees have in the system of democratic control of the security sector. They spoke of the National Assembly’s role in overseeing the security services and the defence system, as well as the mechanisms by which this oversight is achieved in practice.

In the conversation, special emphasis was placed on the importance of cooperation between civilian and military institutions, as well as the importance of continuous training and professional development of personnel in the field of security and defence.

The committee chairmen expressed their satisfaction with the continuation of the practice of visits such as this one, stressing that they contribute to improving understanding and cooperation between military and civilian structures. They wished the participants successful completion of their studies and to be a safe and stable pillar of our country's security.

Milovan Drecun stressed that cooperation between the highest state institutions and the Serbian Armed Forces is of exceptional importance in the context of the current military and security challenges, highlighting the need for unified and coordinated action to preserve the security and stability of the Republic of Serbia.

On behalf of the 14th class of the School of National Defence "Vojvoda Radomir Putnik", Colonel Srdjan Zgonjanin thanked the officials for the warm welcome and the opportunity to gain insight into the work of the National Assembly and its role in the security system of the Republic of Serbia.
