National Assembly Deputy Speaker Nenad Popovic Opens Exhibition My Jadovno

Last night, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Nenad Popovic opened the My Jadovno exhibition at the Russian House, dedicated to the victims of the Gospic – Jadovno - Pag concentration camp complex.

On the occasion, Deputy Speaker Popovic said that, to this day, not enough has been done to make the international public aware of the crimes committed in 1941 when the concentration camp complex was in operation. He deemed that there can be no true reconciliation in the region until all the crimes, from Jadovno to the ones committed in the 1990s, are recognised and condemned.
My Jadovno exhibition comprises photographs, maps and official proclamations issued between May and August 1941, when the Gospic – Jadovno - Pag concentration camp complex was in operation. More than 40 thousand people, mostly Serbs and Jews from Croatia, had been killed during the 132 days in these camps.
The exhibition of authors Predrag Lozo, Dragoslav Ilic and Dusan Bastasic was opened to mark the recent commemoration of the Battle of Stalingrad and will last until 14 February 2013.
