National Assembly Delegation in Study Visit to Republic of Bulgaria
A delegation of the National Assembly paid a study visit to Republic of Bulgaria, from 19 to 22 November 2012, organised by the OSCE Mission to Serbia.
The National Assembly delegation visited the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria where it met with the representatives of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee, Internal Security and Public Order Committee and the Standing Subcommittee for the control over the National Intelligence Service, the National Service for Protection and the Military Information Service of the Ministry of Defence. They also met with the members of the Bulgaria-Serbia Friendship Group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria.
In addition to the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, the delegation members also visited the Ministry of Defence where they were received by Anu Anguelov, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as Deputy Minister of Defence Avgustina Tsvetkova. The representatives of the Ministry of Defence and Joint Operational Command of the Bulgarian Military presented the participation of the Bulgarian Military in multinational operations.
At the Ministry of Interior the delegation talked to the Deputy Minister of Interior, Veselin Vuchkov, while with the Head the Interior Minister’s Cabinet, Boyko Slavchev, and representatives of the Ministry of Interior they discussed the structure of the Bulgarian security system and the course of the reform of the Bulgarian police.
The study visit was organised as part of project “Consolidating the Democratization Process in the Security Sector in Serbia” implemented by the OSCE Mission in Serbia and the National Assembly since 2010. The project, financed by the Swedish International Development Corporation Agency (SIDA), supports the National Assembly’s efforts on the development of its legislative and supervisory activities.
The National Assembly delegation comprised Jozef Sandor, member of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee, Milorad Stosic, deputy member of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee, Mirna Kosanovic, deputy member of the Security Services Control Committee, and Donka Banovic, deputy member of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
