The delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly headed by Stefana Miladinovic and comprising Dusica Stojkovic and Vesna Markovic is taking part in the organization’s 27th Annual Session in Berlin, 8 – 11 July.
The theme of this year’s Annual Session, attended by more than 300 parliamentarians, is “Implementing OSCE Commitments: The Role of Parliaments.” In addition to the three resolutions of the OSCE PA committees the parliamentarians will also discuss topics relating to rising populism in Europe, environmental impacts of war, rebuilding trust in the OSCE area, human trafficking, security challenges such as terrorism and cyber threats.
In the general debate the Head of the National Assembly delegation to the OSCE PA Stefana Miladinovic drew attention to human trafficking especially in times of mass migrations. She spoke about the Resolution of the OSCE PA Special Representative on Human Trafficking Issues Christopher Smith (USA) which among others praises Serbia as a positive example of cooperation between state institutions and the civil sector.
The members of the National Assembly delegation also took part in the meeting of the Silk Road support group, the informal group of OSCE PA member states boasting 23 countries.
In the course of their stay in Berlin the members of the National Assembly delegation also met with Josip Juratovic, Head of the Bundestag Group for Cooperation with SEE countries, and had a number of bilateral meetings.
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Annual Session will end today by the adoption of the Berlin Declaration.
