National Assembly Delegation Takes Part in Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie 48th Annual Session

The Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) held its 48th annual session in Tbilisi, Georgia, 4 - 8 July 2023. Delegations of member countries and regions, associated and observer countries took part in the session.

The delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie, comprising delegation head MA Jadranka Jovanovic and delegation member Dr Dragoljub Ackovic, also took part in the session. The 48th annual session included meetings of the Bureau, APF Network of Women Parliamentarians, Network of Young Parliamentarians, Political Affairs Committee, Education, Communication and Cultural Affairs Committee, Parliamentary Affairs Committee, Cooperation and Development Committee and Plenary Session.

The delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie took an active part in the session. At the meeting of the Network of Women Parliamentarians, delegation head Jadranka Jovanovic said that she was very proud of the Republic of Serbia and its high awareness of the importance of gender equality, adding that the Republic of Serbia has passed a number of laws and amendments that regulate the issue of gender equality. This is evidenced by the fact that there is a significant number of women ministers in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, as well as in the Parliament. The Day of Gender Equality, celebrated on 11 June, was also established. In the part of the meeting of the Education, Communication and Cultural Affairs Committee dedicated to monuments under UNESCO protection, delegation head Jovanovic stressed that cultural monuments in Kosovo-Metohija, which are under UNESCO protection, Holy Virgin of Ljevis, Visoki Decani monastery, Pec patriarchy and others are endangered by the poor security situation. In its decision, UNESCO listed the reasons why the Serbian monuments in Kosovo-Metohija are endangered.

The delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie met in informal talks with Francis Drouin, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie, Mrs. Salome Zourabichvili, the President of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia, as well as the heads and members of the delegations of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie participating countries and regions.
