National Assembly Delegation Takes Part in Interparliamentary Conference on EU Foreign and Security Policy

National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Borko Stefanovic and Deputy Chairman of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee Aleksandar Markovic took part in the Interparliamentary Conference on the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Union, organised by the Parliament of Sweden, in cooperation with the European Parliament, within the framework of the Swedish presidency of the Council of the European Union, in Stockholm, on 2 and 3 March 2023.

The conference was opened by Dr Andreas Norlen, Speaker of the Swedish Parliament, while David McAllister, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, welcomed the participants on behalf of the European Parliament. The main topics of the Conference were Russian aggression against Ukraine, the priorities of the European Union's foreign and security policy, European Union's Strategic Compass for security and defence and the Arctic.

In the course of the session, the delegation had bilateral meetings with the delegations of Sweden, Spain, Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, Ukraine, Montenegro, Romania and the European Parliament. The meetings focused on the improvement of bilateral and parliamentary cooperation, Serbia’s European integration process, dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Serbia’s reforms and democratic development and the current situation in Europe in the face of the Ukrainian crisis.
