NATO Secretary General Confirms Serbia's Leadership Role in the Balkans

During the spring session of the NATO PA in Dayton on 26 May 2025, the Head of the standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Prof. Dr Zoran Dragisic, after the address of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, pointed out that the Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija are in a very difficult position and asked whether an increase in the number of KFOR members is planned, due to a series of escalating moves being made by the Pristina side.


NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte emphasised that the Republic of Serbia is the largest country in the Western Balkans and that they consider it a leader that should continue to play a constructive role. The NATO Secretary General said he has excellent cooperation with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and that they are jointly considering ways to reduce tensions in the region. He emphasised the very important role of KFOR, adding that NATO as an alliance will continue to contribute to peace and stability in the territory of Kosovo-Metohija.

The Head of the standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Prof. Dr Zoran Dragisic and delegation members Natasa Jovanovic, Goran Rakic and Ivan Karic, are taking part in the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
