Moscow Days in Serbia - Promotion of Monograph on Count Sava Vladislavic

The jubilee monograph "Count Sava Vladislavich - 300 Years Since the Founding of Troitskosavsk, the Capital of the Great Tea Route" was promoted at the National Assembly House as part of the event "Moscow Days in Serbia”.

The gathering was opened by the Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Dragan Stanojevic, who emphasised the importance of preserving the culture of remembrance of great figures of the Serbian diaspora, who have made Serbia famous throughout the world with their works. In addition to Nikola Tesla, Mihajlo Pupin, Milutin Milankovic and Mileva Einstein, one of the prominent places undoubtedly belongs to Count Sava Vladislavich.

"Count Vladislavich enjoys great respect in Russian history, where he is considered one of the most important diplomats. At the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, this year marks the 300th anniversary of the founding of the city of Troitskosavsk, today's Kyakhta, of which Count Vladislavich was the mayor. He managed to define the six thousand kilometre long border between Russia and China, which was confirmed in 1727 by the Pact of Eternal Peace. On the border itself, Count Vladislavich built a city dedicated to Saint Sava, which was declared the capital of the Great Tea Route - the longest trade route in the history of civilization, over 13,000 kilometres long," said Stanojevic.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the TSK-300 Committee, the United Nations, the diplomatic corps, as well as Serbian and foreign historians, sinologists, and representatives of local self-governments from Serbia and Russia. The closing speeches were given by representatives of the National Centre for Historical Memory under the Office of the President of the Russian Federation, as well as members of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU).

As part of the programme, Count Vladislavich's descendant, Branko Vukomanovic officially opened the exhibition "300 Years of Count Sava Vladislavich of Troitskosavsk".

A special part of the event was the Great Tea Route Forum, which brought together ambassadors from all relevant Eurasian countries. The forum was chaired by Dragan Stanojevic, Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Drazen Djurdjic, President of the Municipality of Sremski Karlovci, and Alexandra Protasova, Mayor of Troitskosavsk, (today's Kyakhta).
