Members of Parliamentary Friendship Group with Indonesia Meet Indonesian Delegation

Today, at the National Assembly House, the members of the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Republic of Indonesia met with a delegation of the Indonesian National Security Council.


The members of the Indonesian delegation Dwi Soerastyo and Tahan S.L. Toruan showed interest in Serbia’s further steps toward addressing the Kosovo-Metohija issue and on the road to the European Union.

The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Indonesia Meho Omerovic said that Serbia held that big and influential Asian country’s support in defending Serbia’s sovereignty and integrity in high esteem.

Meho Omerovic stated Serbia’s views on these issues, stressing that joining the European Union remains its strategic goal.

The members of the Indonesian delegation restated that they supported Serbia’s position on Kosovo-Metohija, adding that they believed Serbia would overcome the difficulties and join the road to recovery.

Indonesian Ambassador to Serbia Samuel Samson stressed that the two countries’ cooperation was on the rise and that six bilateral cooperation agreements in various fields had been signed this year, while their respective parliaments were expected to sign a cooperation agreement next year.

The discussion also touched on the need to raise the level of trade between the two countries. Meho Omerovic emphasised the favourable conditions for Indonesian companies’ to invest into Serbia.
