Members of PFG with Montenegro Meet with Montenegrin Parliament Deputy Speaker

The Head of the PFG with Montenegro MA Igor Becic met today with Montenegrin Parliament Deputy Speaker Branimir Gvozdenovic.

The Head of the PFG with Montenegro and the Montenegrin Parliament Deputy Speaker highlighted the important role parliaments play in the development of relations between the two countries and discussed advancing interparliamentary cooperation through reciprocal visits of friendship groups and mutual support in international parliamentary organizations.

Becic said that the two countries enjoy a firm friendship as evidenced by the fact that the PFG with Montenegro with its 56 members is one of the largest in the National Assembly and by the reciprocal visits of high dignitaries.

Becic went on to say that there is room to advance interparliamentary cooperation especially in the spheres of economy, tourism and security, opining that reciprocal visits and constant dialogue can land additional impulse to the intensification of cooperation.

Montenegrin Parliament Deputy Speaker Branimir Gvozdenovic spoke of the generally good relations between the two countries and invited the members of the PFG with Montenegro to visit the Montenegrin parliamentarians before the end of the year. He said that parliamentary diplomacy is important because an exchange of opinions and experiences can result in solutions in the best interest of the citizens.

The officials agreed that seeing how Serbia and Montenegro share the same foreign policy objective – EU accession, mutual support and joint stances in international organizations could be greatly beneficial.

The meeting was also attended by PFG members Aleksandar Markovic, Zvonimir Djokic and Danica Bukvic who, mentioning the two countries’ friendly relations, agreed in their opinion that cooperation would be intensified and advanced across the board.
