Members of National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group with Macedonia Talk to Macedonian Assembly President

The members of the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group with Macedonia met today, at the National Assembly House, with a delegation of the Macedonian Assembly (Sobranie), headed by the Assembly President, Trajko Veljanoski.


Zoran Ostojic, Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Macedonia, greeted the Macedonian parliamentarians, expressing his expectation that the cooperation between the two parliamentary friendship groups would contribute to the further improvement of the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. He stressed that good-neighbourly relations and regional stability are an important step for all the countries of the Western Balkans in their advancement toward European Union accession, adding that the progress Macedonia and the other countries of the region achieve in the Euro-integration process is also in Serbia’s best interest.
Trajko Veljanoski, President of the Macedonian Assembly, also stressed that good-neighbourly relations are beneficial for each and every one of the countries in the region and that cooperation between the Macedonian and Serbian parliament and more frequent contacts can considerably contribute to the improvement of overall relations between Macedonia and Serbia. The Macedonian Assembly President invited the members of the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group with Macedonia to visit Skopje soon.
Taking part in the talks, the members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Macedonia emphasised the importance of regional cooperation for the stability of the region and made several proposals and suggestions about how to boost the two countries’ economic, cultural and educational cooperation and foster connections between young people in the interest of better mutual understanding.
The delegation comprised the Head and members of Sobranie’s parliamentary group for cooperation with the National Assembly, and the meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to Serbia, Ljubisa Georgievski.
