Members of National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group with Iraq Received in Iraqi Embassy

On Thursday, 16 May 2013, the Republic of Serbia National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group with Iraq attended a reception at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Belgrade, organised by the Iraqi Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Falah Abdulhasan Abdulsada to mark the establishment of the Friendship Group.


Reminding that this year marks the 55th anniversary of bilateral relations between the two countries, H.E. Falah Abdulhasan Abdulsada declared the bilateral relations traditionally good. As regards economic and business cooperation, he stressed Iraq’s need for Serbian construction and infrastructure companies. He emphasised that Serbian workers are welcome on the Iraq’s market first and foremost for their ample experience and excellent reputation in the country’s economic circles. He listed the numerous cooperation opportunities and announced the establishment of a Serbia-Iraq economic forum, adding that the foundation of several joint business companies is in the works. As priorities, he also announced a series of activities to be organised to mark the upcoming 55th anniversary of bilateral relations between Serbia and Iraq and invited the Parliamentary Friendship Group members to take part in them.
The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Iraq, Oto Kismarton, stated that Iraq and Serbia share a long-standing friendship and good cooperation which can be even more successful in the future. He listed the political and economic reasons to further improve the two countries’ relations, as well as Serbia’s interest to strengthen overall economic cooperation. He emphasised that relations and cooperation with the most important Middle-Eastern countries, cooperation and strengthening of relations with the Republic of Iraq among them, take a very important place within Republic of Serbia’s established foreign policy orientation toward strengthening and renewing foreign policy relations and cooperation with all countries relevant for its overall international status.
The members of the Republic of Serbia National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group with Iraq said they expected the Parliamentary Friendship Group’s activity to help further the relations between Serbia and Iraq.
The reception was attended by MPs Oto Kismarton, Head of the NARS Parliamentary Friendship Group with Iraq, and Parliamentary Friendship Group members Dusica Nikolic, Mirjana Marjanovic, Dr Aleksandar Radojevic and Vladimir Cvijan.
