Marinkovic Receives Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights Award
Today at the National Assembly House, the Chief of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights Ahmad Shahidov presented National Assembly Deputy Speaker Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic with an award for peace and democracy.
Shahidov said that the two countries’ relations are very close and will continue to develop in the same vein. The Institute will, by the end of the year, organize a youth forum as a form of cultural outreach. Shahidov said that Serbia is the chief country in the region with a culture very similar to that of Azerbaijan, facing similar challenges of territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Marinkovic said that the 2013 Strategic Partnership Agreement had significantly deepened the diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two countries and should now spread to culture, education, sport and science. The Deputy Speaker added that Serbia would continue to strongly support Azerbaijan and its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
