Marija Obradovic Elected Vice-President of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe

MP Marija Obradovic, Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), was elected PACE Vice-President at this morning’s plenary session. She will be holding the post in 2017 and 2018.

Marija Obradovic is an MP of the Serbian Progressive Party and Head of the parliamentary delegation to PACE starting with the current session, as well as a member of the Group of the European People's Party at the Council of Europe PA.

The Serbian delegation taking part in the PACE October session also comprises MPs Biljana Pantic Pilja, Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic, Dubravka Filipovski, Jasmina Obradovic, Elvira Kovacs and Aleksandar Stevanovic. The main topics of the session are human rights and the rule of law in Azerbaijan, Jordan, Hungary, Romania and Ukraine, as well as the crimes committed in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. A debate on a political solution to the crisis in Catalonia was included into the agenda under urgent procedure.

The participants will be addressed by the President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman and the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

In the course of the session, a rapporteur on Kosovo-Metohija will be elected at the meeting of the Political Committee, and the PACE Monitoring Committee rapporteurs on Serbia will be presenting their report compiled after their visit in July.
