MP Vesna Markovic Meets with Former Hanns Seidel Foundation Scholars

In the course of her meeting with a number of former Hanns Seidel Foundation scholars at the National Assembly Building today, MP Vesna Markovic stressed that Serbia’s chief foreign policy objective is EU accession and that Germany’s support in the field of judiciary reform and economic cooperation has proven invaluable. Markovic also emphasized the importance of EU enlargement not just for the stability of the Western Balkans, but for the entire European Union.

Among other things, the guests were interested in how Serbia is handling the migrant crisis. Markovic said that even though it is not an EU member, Serbia was first to register the migrants who had entered its territory, offered adequate medical aid, food and housing, and is now hard at work with its European partners to find a common solution to the problem.

Markovic was grateful for the many projects realized with the help of German organizations and is hoping that Germany would continue to invest into Serbia.
