MP Sasa Dujovic Meets with Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Policy Representatives

The Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Issues of War Veterans and Victims of the Wars from 1991 to 1999, Sasa Dujovic, and Subcommittee member Velimir Stanojevic met today, at the National Assembly House, with the State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Policy, Negovan Stankovic, and Assistant Minister Vladimir Pesic. The meting was also attended by the Chairperson of the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction, Milica Dronjak.

Dujovic reminded the guests that, at the sitting held on 29 November, having considered the Bill on Welfare of Disabled Veterans submitted by himself and currently in assembly procedure, the Subcommittee members requested that the competent Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Policy should have its say on the Bill, also requesting a meeting with the competent Minister.
State Secretary Negovan Stankovic shared the position of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Policy and Council for War Veteran Issues that the Government should be the proposer of a systemic law on welfare for disabled veterans, reminding that the law currently in force had been adopted in 1998. He said that the preparation of the draft law has entered its last stage, after which it will be put to public debate.
Stankovic is sure that the Bill on Welfare of Disabled Veterans will be in assembly procedure in spring.
On the behalf of the Sector for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities, Assistant Minister Vladimir Pesic stressed that financing programmes at the local level is a priority in his work, adding that these activities include ex-servicemen’s organisations and associations.
