MP Miodrag Linta Meets with Representatives of Janjani and Zmijanje Associations
MP and member of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Miodrag Linta met with representatives of the Janjani Homeland Association and Zmijanje Civic Association from Novi Sad.
At the meeting, the representatives of the associations informed MP Linta about their work to date, activities and goals, as well as the challenges they face in preserving the cultural, historical and native identity of Serbs from the areas of Janj and Zmijanje. Special emphasis was placed on working with young people and organising cultural and artistic events, which foster the native spirit and national awareness.
Linta said that he would continue to advocate for the establishment of an Office for Serbs in the region, which would have two legal services — one for Bosnia and Herzegovina and one for Croatia. These services would provide free legal assistance, as well as represent a direct link with the competent institutions in those countries. In addition, the office would be tasked with preparing an annual report on the human rights situation of Serbs in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and other countries in the region. He particularly emphasised that returnees and displaced persons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina face numerous problems related to infrastructure, such as the lack of roads, clinics, shopping facilities, etc.
"If we do not have a state institution, this fight is much more difficult. You are an example of how local associations should function and act. Thank you for taking care of your regions out of pure love," said Linta, adding that he will continue to support all initiatives that contribute to the preservation of the national identity and rights of the Serbian people in the region.
