The traditional Great School Lesson held in the Sumarice Memorial Park in Kragujevac in the presence of Serbia’s top state officials, commemorated the 70^th anniversary of the crime committed by German soldiers - the shooting of several thousands of Kragujevac townspeople in a single day.

The Great School Lesson commenced by the laying of wreaths at the foot of the Monument to V/3 and a special prayer served by Bishop Jovan of Lipljan. Poem When Innocent Souls Depart by Dragan Jovanovic Danilov was also performed.

Minister of Culture Predrag Markovic and Russian Ambassador Aleksandar Konuzin lit the Eternal Flame of Freedom at the plateau in front of the October 21^st Memorial Museum.
