Gojkovic with Macedonian Parliament Speaker

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic met today with Macedonian Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi at the 8th Conference of Speakers of Parliament of the Countries of the Western Balkans in Budapest.

Gojkovic said it was vastly important that Serbia and Macedonia strive to improve cooperation in all areas of common interest, especially since their relations are on a rise as evidenced by the intensification of political dialogue between the two countries.

Gojkovic said that there is considerable potential to improve interparliamentary cooperation as an important segment in the enhancement of overall relations between Serbia and Macedonia especially at the level of working bodies and parliamentary friendship groups.

Gojkovic emphasized the importance of cooperation in regional initiatives for the Euro-integration process adding that the Serbian Parliament is ready to share its experience and help the Macedonian Parliament in the process.

Xhaferi agreed that the two parliaments play an important part in the improvement of relations between Serbia and Macedonia, stressing that there is ample room to deepen economic as well as other types of cooperation.

The two parliament speakers also discussed other topics of common interest.
