Gojkovic and Cubrilovic Sign Memorandum on Establishment of Parliamentary Cooperation Commission

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic met today with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Cubrilovic, after which the two heads of parliament signed a Memorandum on the establishment of the Commission for Cooperation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska.

Gojkovic said that the signing of this Memorandum, which is the highest form of cooperation, best proves the closeness and brotherly relationship between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.

Gojkovic said that a first meeting of the Commission is to follow soon, adding that the two parliaments’ working bodies have already in the past cooperated on issues concerning Euro-integration, healthcare, education and other areas of importance for everyday life.

Gojkovic stressed that Serbia is keeping out of the elections in the Republic of Srpska or Bosnia and Herzegovina, saying that President Aleksandar Vucic’s statement that he would announce any data on western intelligence agencies’ interference in the elections is clear in that respect.

The Assembly Speaker said that what Serbia is doing on the territory of the Republic of Srpska is helping improve the life of the people in the entity, and by helping the Republic of Srpska Serbia is also helping Bosnia and Herzegovina. Gojkovic stressed that she sees nothing strange in Serbia helping and building kindergartens, schools and supporting life, and does not interfere in the elections in a state whose sovereignty it respects.

Gojkovic thanked the Republic of Srpska for its, within Bosnia and Herzegovina, unwavering respect of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, adding that she expected future efforts on supporting Serbia as regards Kosovo-Metohija at the multilateral level.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Cubrilovic said that the exchange between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska had in the past four years yielded some concrete forms of cooperation in all segments of life, the parliamentary included, adding how pleased he was to be signing the Memorandum on Establishment of the Cooperation Commission today.

Cubrilovic said that the Memorandum is the result of the special ties between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska in accordance with the Dayton Accords, pointing out that the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska had always found understanding within the Serbian Assembly and its Speaker Maja Gojkovic.
Cubrilovic went on to say that Serbia provides the Republic of Srpska with concrete help such as the construction of infrastructure, kindergartens and schools in particular, and it does not analyse the makeup of the areas it assists, but provides help were help is needed.
