Gojkovic Visits Belarus
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic, currently in official visit to Belarus, met with the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich and the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko.
They opined that the visit of the National Assembly Speaker, first at the level of parliament speakers in 15 years, would open a new stage of development in the relations between the two parliaments and countries.
In view of the further development of friendly relations founded in the two nations’ historical and cultural ties, the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation is a good basis for furthering interparliamentary cooperation through parliamentary mechanisms set in place to prompt cooperation between the two countries in the spheres of economy, trade, investment, healthcare, education, etc.
Gojkovic also met with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. Gojkovic and Lukashenko agreed it was important to boost economic cooperation and trade.
Gojkovic thanked Belarus for its principled position on Kosovo-Metohija and support of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina which Serbia is committed to.
