Gojkovic Opens “Spirit of Youth” Caravan in Subotica

Today, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic opened the “Spirit of Youth” caravan in Subotica, event organized to promote dual education, stressing that educational reform is one of Serbia’s key priorities, the development of practical and applicable skills to better adjust the education system to the job market which is essential for the reduction of unemployment among the youth and for economic development.

“The Parliament is fully prepared to, through comprehensive debates and adoption of laws on dual education during its autumn session, create the legal pre-requisites for its full application and to join the Government’s efforts to conduct educational reform”, Gojkovic told the assembled young people.

The National Assembly Speaker said that the reform requires full cooperation between the local self-government, like Subotica, the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, the state authorities and the economy which needs to recognize its interests and join the process to ensure its success.

“To secure success for the reform it is essential to work together to change the way we think and our habits – to encourage entrepreneurship and creativity, to be ready to learn and keep learning throughout our lives and, first and foremost, learn to stay strong in the face of challenges”, said Gojkovic.

The Parliament Speaker said that by taking part in the project young people are showing interest in their future, stressing that the future of the society hinges on the quality of their education and of how much we invest into it today.

Subotica is the 16th of 33 cities scheduled to be visited by the “Spirit of Youth” caravan to promote dual education. The event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, which is the event’s patron, and the promoter of the event, famous athlete Davor Stefanek.
