Gojkovic and Davutoglu agreed that economic cooperation is very important for the overall development of bilateral relations and that the visit of the Turkish delegation comprising a considerable number of businessmen would contribute to the strengthening of said relations.

Davutoglu said he expected an increase in the amount of Turkish investments into Serbia, and a rise in the annual volume of trade between the two countries to a billion dollars.

The Prime Minister of Turkey said that today’s visit had resulted in an agreement to set up an intergovernmental cooperation council which could meet as soon as in the next few months, which, he pointed out, would truly intensify relations.

Gojkovic said that fostering job creation and boosting investment is important for the entire region, as is the realisation of joint projects at the regional level.

Gojkovic said that the Serbian Assembly stands ready to contribute to the development of economic cooperation through the ratification of the agreements signed by the two governments.

Gojkovic and Davutoglu agreed that the parliament plays a significant role in the development and strengthening of relations between the two countries, which, Davutoglu said, was also greatly assisted by the National Assembly Speaker’s visit to Turkey in April.

Davutoglu also said that the good relations between Serbia and Turkey have a positive impact on the whole region.
