Francophonie Parliamentary Assembly 25th Regular Session Completed

Milos Jovanovic, member of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of Francophonie (APF), took part in the 25th regular session of the APF for the European region, held in Montreux, Switzerland, from 19 to 21 November 2012.

The topics discussed by the APF member states at the session pertained to the role of the corporate sector in the promotion of the French language, economic management for the recovery of company trust, Francophonie in the sphere of culture and Francophonie in the sphere of economy, the status of the French language in technical universities of international stature, as well as the position and role of the French language in multinational companies.

In the course of the session, Milos Jovanovic, member of the National Assembly’s delegation to APF, met with Jacques Legendre, APF Secretary General, and conveyed how interested the National Assembly representatives are to continue to take part in the upcoming activities of the parliamentary organisation.

Secretary General Jacques Legendre briefed Milos Jovanovic on the potentials of the Noria programme which covers financial assistance primarily to the parliaments of APF member states and associate members for the translation of their national parliaments’ websites into French, expanding their library fund with French literature and translation of some legislation into French. A change in the Serbian Parliament’s status with the APF would be desirable for the use of the Noria programme.
