France Will Continue to Support Serbia’s Progress toward Euro-Integration
In the course of the bilateral meeting with the National Assembly delegation, the French Parliamentary delegation participating in the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Ecuador stated that France would continue to support Serbia’s progress toward Euro-integration.
Despite the differences in their views on the Kosovo-Metohija issue, the Head of the French delegation Michèle André, commended the progress made in the negotiations and the Serbian side’s approach to addressing the Kosovo-Metohija issue. France will not change its position that the integration of the Western Balkan countries into the EU should be continued in order to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region, and that Serbia is the crucial country in the matter.
In the course of the Assembly in Ecuador, the Serbian delegation also met with French Senator Robert-Denis Del Picchia, President of the most influential geopolitical group Twelve Plus at the Inter-Parliamentary Union, who endorsed the election of Marija Obradovic into the Bureau of the Second Standing Committee, and restated that he would urge for Serbia to be given a spot in the Group’s Executive Committee.
The Serbian parliamentarians also met with the delegations of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and agreed to continue cooperation and mutual support in the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
