Forty-Seventh Sitting of the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues

The Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues held its forty-seventh sitting on 19 January. The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Meho Omerovic and was attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy Radina Todorovic, Assistant Minister of Labour and Social Policy Zoran Milosevic and Assistant Minister of Economy and Regional Development Ljiljana Dzuver.

The Committee members considered the Bill on the Employment of Foreigners, in principle and the Bill on the Conversion of Immediate, but Outstanding Liabilities towards Military Pension Beneficiaries into the Public Debt of the Republic of Serbia, in principle.

Minister of Economy and Regional Development Ljiljana Dzuver stressed that the Law on Foreigners and Law on Conditions for Establishing Labour Relations with Foreign Citizens provided the basis for the Bill which specifies the requirements for the employment of foreigners, types of work permits, rights to equal treatment of foreign nationals, duty to register employees, as well as penalties for violations of the provisions of the Bill.

Presenting the Bill on the Conversion of Immediate, but Outstanding Liabilities towards Military Pension Beneficiaries into the Public Debt of the Republic of Serbia, State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy Radina Todorovic stressed that the state had to pay the immediate yet outstanding liabilities of the Military Social Insurance Fund incurred by the partial harmonisation of pensions and compensations toward military pension beneficiaries. The funds for the settlement of the debt are secured from the budget of the Republic of Serbia, while the Government would decree the dates to settle the debt to the beneficiaries i.e. payment dates, stated Todorovic.

Following the debate, the Committee members adopted the Bills in principle.

The Committee members went on to decide that the information on the court ruling on the discharge of workers of the company “RS Partners” from Surdulica should be forwarded to the Labour Inspectorate for further action.
