Forty-Fifth Sitting of the Industry Committee

At the sitting held on 5 October, the members of the Industry Committee considered the Activity Report of the Ministry of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning – Mining and Geology Sector for the 1 January – 30 June 2011 period.


The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Milorad Buha, and attended by State Secretary and Assistant Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning Zlatko Dragosavljevic and Zoran Teodorovic.

State Secretary Dragosavljevic informed the Committee on the activities the Sector had launched and completed in the past six months. Dragosavljevic said that the work on the Mining and Geological Research Draft Law was completed; that the activities relating to the second stage of the mineral resource complex management strategy which would provide a systemic framework for the development of the mining industry of the Republic of Serbia have continued; the drafting of the Rulebook on mining project content has begun and seven more rulebooks were being prepared, as was the draft of 15 mining development investment projects which would comprise both the opening and development of new, as well as investments into the existing mining capacities. In addition, Dragosavljevic informed the Committee members that the displacement of settlements and transfer of the cemetery in Vreoci has begun which would enable unimpeded coal production staring from 2012. In the first half of 2011 the sector approved geological research of mineral resources on the territory of Serbia on 83 research fields, 34 of which got permission for new research. Talking about inspectorial work, Dragosavljevic said that the available number of mining and geological inspectors is five and two respectively, which is insufficient for an inspection of all the enterprises. As the most important investments into public enterprises in 2010 Dragosavljevic listed the investments into the Electric Power Industry of Serbia, underground coal exploitation in the mines of Rembas, Soko, Jasenovac, Lubnica and Stavalj, as well as investments into RTB Bor.

In the continuation, the Committee members exchanged opinions on the Mining and Geology Sector and posed questions to the guests.
