She highlighted the two countries’ 180 years of excellent and fruitful relations, as well as historic ties and cultural tradition. She said that intensive cooperation and support in interparliamentary and international organizations, the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Council of Europe is another proof of these friendly relations and added that the Republic of Serbia would react at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation from which Russia is currently excluded. She mentioned that Serbia had voted in favour of Russia returning to the Council of Europe and against all of Ukraine’s motions to rescind cultural and national differences and national minority freedoms. She also hopes for a more pronounced presence of Serbian products on the Russian market and that the agreements the two countries’ presidents are to sign in December in Moscow would contribute to it.

Filipovski thanked Russia for its principled stance on Serbia’s integrity and sovereignty and for not recognizing Kosovo-Metohija, adding that Serbia is a military neutral country which has paid dearly for its sovereignty and neutrality and does not intend to join NATO. She said that Serbia’s chief foreign policy goal is to join the European Union, but at the same time strengthen its ties with Russia and China.
