Fifty-Third Sitting of the European Integrations Committee
At the sitting held on 23 November, the European Integrations Committee considered, in principle, the Bills on Market Surveillance and on Health Safety of Items of General Use, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management Ljubisa Dimitrijevic briefed the Committee members on the innovations contained in the Bill on Market Surveillance, stressing that its adoption improved the legal framework ensuring an efficient market surveillance so that products can meet the requirements guaranteeing a high level of protection to the public interest aspect such as safety, environmental protection, human life and health and customer protection.
Explaining the Bill on Health Safety of Items of General Use, Assistant Minister of Health Petar Bulat stressed that the law’s main purpose is to ensure a high level of protection of human life and health, and that it would enable a better approach to the control and monitoring of the health safety of items of general use.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Laszlo Varga.
