Fifth Sitting of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues
At the sitting held on 1 August, the members of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues considered the Proposal for the Election of Ombudsman.
Committee Chairman Vladimir Cvijan informed the Committee members that the Democratic Party, Socialist Party of Serbia and Liberal Democratic Party parliamentary groups had submitted their candidate proposals for the election to the function of Ombudsman. All three parliamentary groups nominated one candidate – Sasa Jankovic, Bachelor of Laws from Belgrade.
The Committee reviewed Sasa Jankovic’s CV and established that the candidate met the conditions stipulated by the Law.
In the discussion, the Committee members stated that the candidate, whose five-year mandate had expired on 23 July 2012, had successfully performed the duty of Ombudsman in said period.
The Committee unanimously formulated the Proposal of the Decision on the Election of Ombudsman and concluded to submit it to the National Assembly for consideration.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Vladimir Cvijan.
