The European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia, Jelko Kacin, met today at the National Assembly House with representatives of the National Assembly with whom he spoke about the current situation in Serbia.

Kacin met separately with the head of the Liberal Democratic Party Deputy Group, Cedomir Jovanovic, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic and European Integrations Committee Chairman Laslo Varga.

In his meeting with Jelko Kacin, Cedomir Jovanovic, head of the Liberal Democratic Party Deputy Group, stressed that LDP will fully support the Serbian Government on the road to visa regime liberalisation and the Government’s other activities aimed at approaching European Union membership.

In the meeting with Prof. Dr Micunovic, the officials agreed it is necessary to establish full cooperation with The Hague Tribunal so as to remove all obstacles and create the conditions essential for Serbia’s further approach to the European family.

Laslo Varga briefed the European Parliament Rapporteur on the National Assembly’s upcoming activities, as well as the difficulties in its work. Kacin deemed that the Assembly majority and opposition should make additional efforts to enable the parliament and other state institutions in Serbia to operate more efficiently. He repeated that full cooperation with The Hague Tribunal is still one of the conditions Serbia must fulfill in order to progress towards the European Union. He stressed that he is pleased with the results of the work of some state organs with whose representatives he had spoken during his visit.
