Eleventh Sitting of the Committee on Health and the Family

At the sitting held on 8 November, the members of the Committee on Health and the Family became acquainted with the process of the foundation of the Doctors’ Chamber and Dentists’ Chamber of Serbia.


At the sitting held on 8 November, the members of the Committee on Health and the Family became acquainted with the process of the foundation of the Doctors’ Chamber and Dentists’ Chamber of Serbia.

The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairperson, Snezana Stojanovic-Plavsic, and was attended by Dragan Moraca, State Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Tatjana Radosavljevic, Director of the Doctors’ Chamber of Serbia.

The State Secretary at the Ministry of Health, Dragan Moraca, informed the Committee of the legal regulations for the foundation of Chambers in Serbia, pointing out that the Dentists’ Chamber of Serbia was the last to be formed due to disagreements and discord of the Chamber members. The election of the Dentists’ Chamber organs are finished, the Statute was adopted, in accordance to which the Chamber Assembly elected a director. Considering that the Chamber is an independent and autonomous organisation with the status of a legal person, the Ministry of Health cannot influence and change its decisions, except in cases when the Chambers Law has been broken.

The director of the Doctors’ Chamber of Serbia, Tatjana Radosavljevic presented the Doctors’ Chamber plan of activities, as well as the basic tenets and goals of its work to the Committee members. She informed the Committee members of the results of its work so far and the formation of regional Doctors’ Chambers in Serbia.

The Committee members went on to exchange opinions on the compliance with the law in the formation of the Dentists’ and Doctors’ Chamber of Serbia, the compliance with the law in the election of the Director of the Dentists’ Chamber of Serbia, the need to form regional Dentists’ Chambers in Serbia, the systematisation of the Doctors’ Chamber of Serbia and financing the Chambers.

After the conclusion of the discussion, the Committee brought a Conclusion to request that the Ministry of Health submit its position on the legality of the process of election of organs of the Dentist’s Chamber of Serbia in written form to the Committee on Health and the Family.
