Dr Vladimir Orlic Meets with Newly-Appointed Tunisian Ambassador

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic met today with the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia Imen Laajili Ammari.

Welcoming the newly-appointed Ambassador to Serbia, the National Assembly Speaker expressed his belief that, during her diplomatic mandate, she would make a significant contribution to the strengthening of bilateral relations, which, they both agreed, have been traditionally friendly and grounded in mutual understanding, respect and strong support for the values of public international law. In that regard, Speaker Orlic thanked Tunisia for its consistent respect for our country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for the support expressed in international organisations.

The National Assembly Speaker informed Ambassador Ammari about the difficult situation in the southern Serbian province. "Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija suffer daily terror and persecution. Their lives and property are threatened and all their rights are usurped. Above all, Kurti and Pristina are seeking a reward for this behaviour in the form of membership in international organisations, which is unacceptable," said Dr Orlic, adding: "We will continue to advocate for peace, stability and dialogue as the only correct path to a sustainable solution, along with the final formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities," Speaker Orlic said.

Ambassador Ammari reiterated that Tunisia’s support for Serbia’s territorial integrity is constant and unquestionable, based not only on the historical friendship of the two countries and peoples, but on Tunisia’s respect for universal principles and its support for all just causes. She emphasised Tunisia’s determination to deepen relations and cooperation at all levels, as well as its willingness to personally contribute to them. The officials agreed that there is room for joint work in numerous areas, especially in the economy, agriculture, pharmacy, education, culture and sport. They opined that the ties between the two parliaments and an exchange of visits, both at the level of parliamentary friendship groups and at the highest level, would give a strong impetus to their further development and improvement.
