A delegation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Hungary paid an official visit to the Hungarian Parliament, on 6 and 7 June 2013, at the invitation of the Hungarian Parliament’s Hungary-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The delegation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Hungary met with the Hungarian Parliament’s Deputy Speaker Sándor Lezsák, the Hungary-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group headed by Kristóf Szatmáry, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Mihály Balla, Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture Sándor Font, Deputy State Secretary for EU Affairs at the Hungarian Foreign Ministry Bálint Ódor, officials of the Hungarian Agriculture Ministry, as well as representatives of the Hungarian Tourist Organisation. They also met with the management of the Self-Government of the Serbian Minority in Hungary, as well as the principal and employees of the Nikola Tesla Serbian Grammar School in Budapest.
In meeting with their Hungarian counterparts, the National Assembly delegation pointed out the two countries’ good relations, at the same time saying they leave room for further development in the areas of European integration, agriculture, tourism, and stressing the need to concretize cooperation. They thanked Hungary for the support it offers Serbia in its progress toward Europe, emphasising the importance of the Hungarian experience in the European integration process, especially as regards harmonising domestic and European legislation and the experience they gained from using European funds.
The Hungarian side said that it was a strong proponent of Serbia’s EU accession and is ready to share all the experience it garnered in the process with Serbia and offer assistance. They also said that they are ready to intensify bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the upcoming period. The mutual understanding and ties shared by the national minorities living in Serbia and Hungary and the border cooperation, important for both countries, greatly contribute to it.
The National Assembly delegation comprised the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Hungary, Prof. Dr Snezana Bogosavljevic Boskovic and the Parliamentary Friendship Group members, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Konstantin Arsenovic and MPs Oto Kismarton and Arpad Fremond.
