Defence and Internal Affairs Committee Members Meet with Ohio National Guard Delegation
Today, at the National Assembly House, the Chairman of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee Dusan Bajatovic and Committee members Dragan Sutanovac, Milos Jovanovic, Slobodan Velickovic, Milovan Drecun, Konstantin Samofalov and Djordje Kosanic met with a delegation of the Ohio National Guard, headed by the commander, Major General Deborah Ashenhurst.
The meeting, organised as part of the visit of the National Guard’s delegation to the Republic of Serbia, was attended by US Deputy Ambassador to Serbia Earle Litzenberger.
The meeting focused on furthering cooperation between the Ohio National Guard and the Army of the Republic of Serbia. The officials expressed their pleasure at the existing cooperation, hoping that it would continue and deepen in the upcoming period. The future cooperation between the Ohio National Guard and Serbian Army, both sides agreed, will help improve overall relations between the US and the Republic of Serbia.
Committee Chairman Dusan Bajatovic took the opportunity to brief the delegation of the National Guard on the Committee’s authority and work. He emphasised the importance of establishing good practice of parliamentary control over the security sector in the Republic of Serbia. He also stressed the importance of the support the Ohio National Guard offers in the reform of the defence system, and expressed expectation that the support would continue in the upcoming period.
Major General Deborah Ashenhurst confirmed the continuation of the support and assistance in all spheres of military cooperation, stressing that she appreciated the Parliament and Government’s dedication to cooperation in the field of defence.
