Dacic Meets with European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations Delegation

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with a delegation of the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO), headed by Pierre Peytier.

National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic said that Serbia attaches importance to the democratic election process, as well as to the institution of observers. He pointed out that invitations to send observation missions had been sent to the PACE, OSCE, CSTO, BSEC and other international organizations. He mentioned that, in addition to the abovementioned, a number of non-governmental organizations will also participate in the observation process of the presidential, parliamentary and local elections, which is extremely important for the legitimacy of the entire process.

The Head of the ENEMO mission Pierre Peytier said that the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations is an international network made up of 21 leading non-profit, non-partisan and non-governmental organizations from 17 countries of central and eastern Europe and central Asia. He explained that this organization has so far had 40 election missions in 10 different countries and that their observers have already registered for the upcoming elections in Serbia. Peytier also said that the ENEMO mission aims to meet with representatives of institutions and political actors involved in the election process before the elections, in order to compile objective reports.

The officials discussed the implementation of the new regulations resulting from the agreement reached within the two tracks of inter-party dialogue, as well as in response to ODIHR recommendations following the June 2020 parliamentary elections.

The National Assembly Speaker said that the National Assembly was ready and open for cooperation with all the observation missions until the end of this process.
