On 29 April, the Committee on Kosovo and Metohija continued the sitting commenced on 3 April and considered the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija Work Plan until 31 December 2009.
The Committee members were presented the Ministry’s plan for this year by Bojan Andjelkovic, Assistant Minister for Kosovo-Metohija who attended the Committee sitting along with his associates. He announced that the Ministry will continue to aid the Serbian and non-Albanian population in Kosovo-Metohija. The plan includes stimulation of development and employment in Kosovo-Metohija, continuation of the efforts to protect the property of Serbs and other non-Albanians, reimbursement for destroyed property, and activities towards the return of displaced persons.
In the discussion, the Committee members objected that the plan mentions neither EULEX nor the six item plan which should enable the stabilisation of the situation in Kosovo. They also pointed out the difficulties of the Serbian and other non-Albanian population with the power supply. Assistant Minister Andjelkovic said that they are actively working on halting the practice of cutting the power supply to Serbs in the province and that the power problem represents a type of pressure on both their survival and return of the displaced persons.
The Committee endorsed the Ministry’s 2009 Work Plan by a majority of votes. The Committee members agreed that the Committee should adopt a conclusion on supporting the Serbian and non-Albanian population of Brdjani and Kosovska Mitrovica.
The sitting was chaired by Ljubomir Kragovic, Committee Chairman.
