Constitutional and Legislative Issues Committee Chairman at Conference on Challenges of Good Governance

Today, at the National Assembly House, the Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues, Vladimir Cvijan, opened the conference on “Challenges of Good Governance”, organised by the Institute of Comparative Law and Serbian Association of Certified Public Sector Internal Auditors.


Addressing the participants of the conference, Cvijan stressed that the National Assembly is dedicated to good governance and the anti-corruption struggle. A new bill on public procurement will soon be in assembly procedure, which should increase control in the field help suppress corruption, stressed Cvijan.
Dr Jovan Ciric, Director of the Institute of Comparative Law, stressed that the fight against corruption is one of the most frequent and most important legal topics in Serbia, at the same time adding that good governance is not merely a struggle to eradicate corruption in society.
The President of the Serbian Association of Certified Public Sector Internal Auditors, Veselin Djordjevic stressed that the issue of good governance means governance and control within each institution, as well as internal audits.
The participants of the conference were also presented the collection “Good Governance and Internal Auditing”. One of the authors of the papers in the collection, Docent Dr Dejan Milenkovic of the Belgrade Faculty of Political Sciences, opened the topic of theoretic and practical dilemmas when defining the concepts of good governance and internal auditing, as well as their interrelationship.
The rest of the conference was dedicated to a presentation of the papers of the rest of the authors of the collection “Good Governance and Internal Auditing”, published by the Institute of Comparative Law and Serbian Association of Certified Public Sector Internal Auditors. The collection is the result of cooperation between practice and practical thinking and theoretical thought on the issues of good governance and internal auditing.
