As part of the programme of acquainting students with state institutions, a group of secondary school students from Bujanovac, accompanied by their teachers, visited the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. During the three-hour tour, the students observed a session of the Assembly from the gallery in the main chamber, visited the building’s most important spaces, and saw a film on the activities of the National Assembly.

The students were welcomed by the Chairman of the National Assembly, Predrag Markovic, and the deputy head of the OSCE Mission, Douglas Wake. The young visitors were very curious about how the assembly worked; Mr Markovic spent more than half an hour answering their questions.

After lunching at the Assembly restaurant, the students continued their tour of state institutions.

The Bujanovac secondary school students, who attend civics lessons, found their visit to the Assembly a very satisfying experience. For many of them this was also the first opportunity to see Belgrade, the nation’s capital.

The programme of acquainting students with state institutions is organised by the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Montenegro. The students’ schedule included visiting the Parliament of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro and the presidential palace.
