Advertisement of Vacancy for Positions of Assistants to the Secretary of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia

Pursuant to Articles 54 and 180 of the Civil Servants Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia, Nos. 79/2005, 81/2005, and 83/2005), the

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA

hereby publishes the first public announcement of vacancy for positions responsible for managing and directing activities of public authorities - Assistants to the Secretary of the National Assembly.

The following positions are currently vacant:


    - Head of Working Body Affairs Sector– one position (applicants must hold BA in Law and have at least nine years of relevant working experience);

    - Head of Organisation and Administrative Affairs Sector – one position (applicants must hold BA in Law and have at least nine years of relevant working experience);


    - Head of Financial Affairs Sector – one position (applicants must hold BA in Economics, have at least nine years of relevant working experience, and be proficient computer users), and


    - Head of Long-Term and Current Maintenance Sector – one position (applicants must hold BSc in Construction, Architecture, or Electrical Engineering, and have at least nine years of relevant working experience).

Assistants to the Secretary of the National Assembly – Heads of Sectors, as defined in Items 1 to 4 – are to be employed for an unspecified period of time, and will be appointed to a Third Grade position for five years.

The appointment decision will be passed by the Administrative Committee of the National Assembly, at the proposal of the Secretary of the National Assembly.

The selection process will involve testing knowledge of issues from the Assembly’s purview, as well as professional knowledge needed for adequately performing tasks each position involves.

In addition to testing applicants’ knowledge, the selection process will also include testing logical, analytical, and communication skills, organisational abilities, as well as leadership skills.

Applicants’ knowledge, professional qualifications, and communication skills will be verified and tested by inspecting data from their applications (including the content of the application letter), and through questions asked at an interview.

The application letter must contain: applicant’s name and surname; date and place of birth; permanent address; education; type and extent of working experience, along with a brief description of tasks and responsibilities the applicant was engaged in previously; any professional development; and areas of special expertise.

The following documents must accompany the application letter:


- Original or certified photocopy of the excerpt from the birth registry;

- Original or certified photocopy of the certificate of citizenship of Serbia
and Montenegro;

- Certified photocopy of University degree;

- Proof of working experience (photocopy of employment booklet);

- Court certificate proving applicant was never sentenced to a prison term
of more than six months; and

- If applicant was previously employed at a public authority – proof that
his/her employment was never terminated due to serious dereliction of duty.

A civil servant applying for these positions must submit either a certificate of assignment or transfer to his/her current position, or a certificate proving he/she is not assigned to any position.

The deadline for submitting application letters is 28 October 2006.

Application letters not submitted in due time, incomprehensible, unallowable, and incomplete application letters, as well as application letters not accompanied by all the necessary supporting documentation, shall be rejected by a conclusion of the Vacancy Board; no individual objection may be filed against such conclusion.
