91st Sitting of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues

At the sitting held on 14 February 2022, the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues responded to the Constitutional Court as regards the initiative to launch proceedings for the assessment of the constitutionality of Article 20, paragraph 2 of the Law on the Security Information Agency.


The Committee responded to the Constitutional Court with the opinion that it should reject the initiative to determine the unconstitutionality of the provision of Article 20, paragraph 2 of the Law on the Security Information Agency in the part stipulating: “shall not be entitled to organize unions nor” of the Law on the Security Information Agency as unfounded since the Agency, as a special state body, subject of the system of national security of the Republic of Serbia, was established to perform specific security-intelligence tasks making unionisation contrary to the unique nature of the organisation and the tasks it performs to maintain and protect the security of the Republic of Serbia.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Jelena Zaric Kovacevic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Nevena Veinovic, Dijana Radovic, Zeljko Tomic, Ilija Matejic, Vuk Mircetic, Dr Ugljesa Mrdic, Violeta Ocokoljic, Borisav Kovacevic, Dubravka Kralj, Arpad Fremond and Vesna Rankovic.
