63rd Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government
At the sitting held on 24 June, the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government considered the Bill on Municipal Militia in principle.
The Bill on Municipal Militia was presented by State Secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Kasalovic who said that the Bill proposes changing the erstwhile name “municipal police” into “municipal militia”. Kasalovic said that one of the reasons for the Bill is the need to set up municipal militias to maintain communal peace and order and ensure an efficient enforcement of laws and other regulative acts in the purview of the municipalities.
The Committee members proposed, by majority vote, that the national Assembly accept the Bill on Municipal Militia, in principle.
The sitting was attended by Assistant Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Sasa Mogic.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Petar Petrovic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Aleksandra Majkic, Sreto Peric, Slavisa Bulatovic, Dr Aleksandar Martinovic, Nedjo Jovanovic, Jovan Palalic, Miletic Mihajlovic, Djordje Komlenski, Tanja Damnjanovic Tomasevic and Dr Balint Pasztor.
