56th Sitting of the European Integration Committee

At the sitting held on 26 March 2019, the European Integration Committee considered, in principle, the Bill on Healthcare, Bill on Items of General Use and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Substances Used in the Illegal Production of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances.

The bills were presented by Dr Berislav Vekic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Health, who said that the Bill on Healthcare did not need to be harmonized with the European legislation, but to harmonize job titles with EU directives, in the drafting the terminology was adjusted viz. dentists are now doctors of dental medicine. The Committee accepted the Bill, in principle, by majority vote.

The Bill on Items of General Use was fully harmonized with the relevant 18 EU directives and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Substances Used in the Illegal Production of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances has been harmonized with the latest five EU directives so it is now fully harmonized with European legislation, said Vekic. The Committee accepted both bills, in principle, by majority vote.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Nenad Canak, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Elvira Kovacs, Vera Jovanovic, Dusica Stojkovic, MA Dejan Radenkovic, Dubravka Filipovski, Bojan Torbica, Vesna Markovic, Gordana Comic and Aleksandar Seselj.
