On 7 February 2006 the Finance Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia held a session to discuss the Proposal of the Decision on Implementing Public Procurement Procedure to Contract for Audits of Final Balances of Budgets of the Republic of Serbia for 2002, 2003 and 2004.
By a majority of votes, Committee members adopted the Decision to serve as the basis for the public procurement procedure, in accordance with the Public Procurement Act. The Decision authorises the Secretary of the National Assembly to initiate public procurement procedure, while the Public Procurement Commission is to prepare tender documentation, define assessment criteria for submitted bids, and, finally, report to the Finance Committee with the complete set of documents on the procedure, once finished.
Based on the Commission’s report, the Finance Committee will submit a proposal to engage an auditor to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
Members of the Finance Committee agreed that the Sub-Committee charged with drafting the State Audit Institution Act would continue work to prepare the Institution’s programme of activities. The Act foresees that the State Audit Institution should commence activities six months after adoption of the Act, i.e. on 14 May 2006.
The Committee adopted the proposal of its vice-chairman, Radojko Obradovic, that 15 April should remain the deadline for submitting political parties’ financial reports.
