40th Sitting of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy
At the sitting held on 18 January 2016, the members of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy discussed and accepted the Advertising Bill, in principle.
Kovac said that the new law aims to provide the inspections with the proper tools, that is, to regulate the market and define clear rules for all involved. One of the main goals of the new law is also to protect the well-being of all the customers, especially the vulnerable categories such as minors, pregnant women and drivers. To that end, she emphasised the fact that the Bill regulates, in painstaking detail, false advertising and limitations imposed on the advertising of certain products such as tobacco products and alcoholic drinks.
Kovac stressed that the new law also details the allowed and prohibited ways, objects and means of advertising with the objective of providing protection to all the citizens of Serbia from advertisements aiming to defraud them, and ensures legal security to the advertisers and peace of mind to those exposed to advertisements.
The Committee then went on to review and accept the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Activity Report for the period 1 July 2015 – 30 September 2015.
On the behalf of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, the sitting was attended by state secretaries Vesna Kovac and Stevan Nikcevic, Assistant Minister Renata Pindzo and associates.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Prof. Dr Aleksandra Tomic and attended by Committee members Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic, Sinisa Maksimovic, Dragoljub Zindovic, Ivana Dinic, Nikola Jolovic, Sasa Maksimovic, Goran Vukadinovic, Milos Tosanic, Vladan Milosevic and Dragan Jovanovic.
