37th Sitting of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues

At the sitting held on 10 May 2021, the members of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues considered the bills on the agenda of the 11th Sitting of the First Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2021.


The Committee considered, in principle, the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Employment and Unemployment Insurance, Bill on Technical Requirements for Products and Conformity Assessment, Bill amending and modifying the Law on Seal of State and Other Authorities, Bill amending and modifying the Law on Railway Transport Agreements, and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Foundation of the Museum of Genocide Victims, submitted by the Government, and found them to be compliant with the Constitution and legal system of the Republic of Serbia.

The Committee went on to consider the Bill on the Confirmation of the Memorandum between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture, Bill on the Confirmation of the Extradition Treaty between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Argentina, Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Argentina on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, Bill on the Confirmation of the Extradition Treaty between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Belarus, and the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Argentina on Transfer of Convicts and Cooperation in Execution of Criminal Sanctions, submitted by the Government, and find them to be compliant with the Constitution and legal system of the Republic of Serbia.

The Committee also adopted the decision to organise a second public hearing with the topic “Changes to the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia in the field of the judiciary”, on Wednesday, 19 May 2021, at noon, in the National Assembly House. The Committee went on to adopt the decision to organise a third public hearing with the topic “Changes to the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia in the field of the judiciary”, on Monday, 24 May 2021, at noon, in the National Assembly House. Pursuant to Article 84, paragraph 5, of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure, in addition to the members of the Committee, other MPs and persons whose presence is import for the topic viz. Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Minister of Justice Maja Popovic and public experts, will be invited to the public hearing.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Jelena Zaric Kovacevic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Nevena Veinovic, Zeljko Tomic, Olja Petrovic, Djordje Todorovic, Milenko Jovanov, Luka Kebara, Ugljesa Mrdic, Vuk Mircetic, Violeta Ocokoljic, Dubravka Kralj, Ilija Matejic, Toma Fila and Arpad Fremond.
