36th Sitting of the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction
At the sitting held on 22 January, the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction noted the establishment of the Working Group for the Political Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
Committee Chairperson Dr Vesna Rakonjac informed the attending Committee members that the Working Group for the Political Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities was set up on 20 January 2016 with the aim of encouraging political participation among persons with disabilities.
The Working Group comprises National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic, and MPs Dr Vesna Rakonjac, Zoran Bojanic, Milanka Jevtovic Vukojicic, Mirjana Dragas, Aida Corovic, Grozdana Banac, Branka Karavidic, Meho Omerovic, Nevena Stojanovic, Olena Papuga, Dubravka Filipovski, Annamaria Vicsek, Ljiljana Kosoric and Shaip Kamberi.
The sitting was attended by the President of the Centre for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities Gordana Rajkov who applauded the establishment of the Working Group and thanked the Parliament Speaker and all the MPs for their willingness to take part in the project of political empowerment of persons with disabilities in the Republic of Serbia. Rajkov said that the project aims to strengthen the political participation of persons with disabilities in Serbia, improve their influence on the legislative framework and electoral process so as to improve the exercise of their rights in practice and enable their full inclusion in all segments of society.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Dr Vesna Rakonjac and attended by Committee members and deputy members Bratimir Vasiljevic, Annamaria Vicsek, Dr Aleksandar Peranovic, Dr Muamer Bacevac, Ana Filipovic, Nadica Nikolic Tanasijevic, Mirjana Dragas, Milena Corilic and Milanka Jevtovic Vukojicic.
