35th Sitting of the European Integration Committee

At the sitting held on 26 March 2018, the European Integration Committee considered, in principle, the Bill on National Spatial Data Infrastructure.

The Bill was presented by Gordana Zoric of the Republic Geodetic Authority who said that it establishes the national spatial data infrastructure (NSDI) and incorporates into the national legislation the EU’s 2007 INSPIRE directive which concerns the European community’s spatial data infrastructure to which Serbia obligated itself as part of EU Negotiation Chapter 27. The establishment of NSDI will resolve problems such as doubling of costs, weak standardization and accessibility, misalignment and lack of coordination. The goal of the Bill is the establishment of a national spatial data infrastructure for the public sector, economy and the public, exchange of standardized spatial databases and services based on cooperation within the geo-sector etc. The objective of NSDI is the creation of a common national framework for the exchange of spatial data on the environment among the public institutions and providing better public access to spatial data, concluded Zoric.

Following a brief debate the Committee members unanimously accepted the Bill on National Spatial Data Infrastructure, in principle.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Nenad Canak, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Olivera Pesic, Dubravka Filipovski, Haji Milorad Stosic, Dusica Stojkovic, Gordana Comic, Krsto Janjusevic, Zvonimir Djokic, Vesna Markovic, Dragan Veljkovic, Elvira Kovacs, Vera Jovanovic and MA Dejan Radenkovic.
