29th Sitting of the Health and Family Committee
At the sitting held on 17 November, the members of the Health and Family Committee discussed and accepted the Bill amending and modifying the Healthcare Law, in principle.
The Bill amending and modifying the Healthcare Law was elaborated, on the behalf of the submitter, by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Health, Prof. Dr Berislav Vekic.
On the occasion Prof. Dr Vekic said that the proposed amendments and modifications to the Law provide a clear definition of the term healthcare worker i.e. university professors and/or associates from the healthcare profession who teach clinical subjects at a healthcare institution, in line with regulations on higher education, as well as those who do not teach but provide healthcare services in healthcare institutions are considered healthcare workers.
The amendments to the Law also stipulate that an agreement between healthcare institutions in the Plan of the network of healthcare institutions, medical faculties and the National Health Insurance Fund regulate the rights and duties concerning the provision of healthcare services covered by the mandatory health insurance.
The State Secretary also mentioned the levelling of the internship period for all healthcare workers with university degrees to six months, adding that the Bill also clearly defines the principle of issuance, renewal and revocation of the license for independent work.
